Eva came to our Glasgow dental practice complaining of old porcelain veneers having dark colours around the neck. She also felt that her teeth were very dark in colour.
Examination revealed that there were old stained composite fillings on the front teeth without veneers.
Additional feedback given at her free consultation revealed that she didn’t like spaces at the side and the two front incisors were comparatively large next to her lateral incisors.
Emax Pressed Porcelain Crowns
After deliberation of the merits regarding porcelain veneers versus crowns, Eva decided to have six ceramic crowns in Emax pressed porcelain.
This process involved removal of old porcelain and filling materials during a one and a half hour appointment as well as taking impressions for the final veneers.
Additional composite resin build ups were used to eliminate the space on the premolars at the side.
Temporary crowns were fitted and the porcelain was turned around in one week.
Alex Adair, the dental technician, was present to make sure that both the patient and dentist were happy with the final selection of porcelain shading and translucency.
The treatment cost £2520 and involved eight teeth – six in porcelain, two in composite bonded resin.
Eva commented that she was much more confident with her new smile. She realised how much her teeth had affected her sense of well-being only after she had them fixed.
