Replacing Old Bridge with Dental Implant: Case Study

Bruce had previously had a bridge attached to the upper right canine, retained by a gold post.

The root had fractured and this often compromises the remaining bone.

Fractured root

Bruce didn’t want to wear a denture but accepted a temporary ‘plate’ for four months.

Tricky dental implant

Dr Murphy felt that the challenge in this case was the angle of implant placement, governed by the bone damaged by the root fracture.

“We still managed with a single implant which helps to keep the costs to a reasonable level in a case like this.”

After dental implant

Bruce paid £3124 for his dental implant treatment. This included an extraction, temporary acrylic denture, X-rays, implant, gold abutment and two tooth implant bridge.

“I was delighted Brendan could do it without touching the teeth on either side as I’d been told that was a real gamble – very happy.”
