Upper Porcelain Veneers Case Study

This case study involves two upper porcelain veneers on the upper right canine and first premolar teeth and the work was carried out in our Glasgow practice.

As you can see from these dental images the challenges for the dentist in this case were the very different preexisting colours in some of the teeth and the darker underlying filling materials.

upper porcelain veneers before

Nicola, the patient, had previous experience with cosmetic dentistry and indeed all of her upper front teeth had been fitted with porcelain veneers some years ago.

This can be seen by the difference in shading between upper and lower teeth.

It is not unusual for patients to seek help to correct or even remove work done previously, perhaps by another Glasgow dentist.

It is not always faulty work, perhaps the materials at the time were not so long-lasting or the patient hasn’t subsequently attended for regular dental work.

On occasions, however, the earlier work has not been of high enough standard and the patient wants a better result.

Upper Porcelain Veneers Shaded to the Patient’s Own Teeth

The object with porcelain veneers is always to produce the most natural combination of colours and translucency so that teeth blend from front to back.

With the help of our laboratory in the West End of Glasgow, we feel that this was successfully achieved in Nicola’s case.

The laboratory technician’s job is a delicate one. Once the upper porcelain veneers have been created, they need to match the desired shade as closely as possible.

Our laboratory partners go to a lot of work to achieve this result and we like to make sure the patient is happy with the end result.

In this case Nicola was delighted. When you look at that final dental image of her upper porcelain veneers in place you can see why. That represents a very satisfactory outcome.

If you have old porcelain veneers or suffer from a different coloured teeht, perhaps from a degree of root damage or old dental work, contact us at the Glasgow practice and we will be happy to set up a free initial consultation.
