Porcelain Bridge Case Study – Getting the Shading Right

This is an example of the latest dental technology and the skill of a good dental technician.

Here we have a bridge replacement in the upper left quadrant. You can see very well the limits of old dental porcelain (in terms of colours and the lack of translucency) contrasted with the benefits of metal-free modern ceramics as well as the advantages of involving the technician in shading and porcelain selection. The second one looks a lot more natural doesn’t it?

We are fortunate to have chosen very skilled technicians in Glasgow for our dental patients here at Appletree. If you would like to know more about the latest in dental technology, don’t hesitate to contact our Glasgow practice.

Note: Importance of Modern Dental Technology

Dental laboratories play a key role in cosmetic dentistry, preparing many of the materials we use in our cosmetic procedures and, vitally important, customising dental cosmetics to make sure they match the look and shade and shape of the patient’s own teeth.

This is quite an art and we are pleased that most of our dental laboratory work is carried out by Leca Dental one of Scotland’s best and fastest growing labs. We send many of our patients along to their Hillington workshop to make sure they received a custom service and almost without fail, they are very happy with the outcome.

A porcelain bridge, as in this case study, is a particularly good example of where poor shade matching would stand out a mile and give the patient a poor experience. We do our best to make sure that never happens.

The best action to take, if you are interesting in any kind of cosmetic dentistry such as a dental bridge is to give our Glasgow practice a ring. Then we can arrange for you to come in for a free initial consultation and discuss a suitable and mutually agreed treatment plan.
