Gap Between Front Teeth: Same Day Porcelain Veneers Case Study

Gemma came to our practice having read online about the same day service we offer for porcelain veneers.

She had recently been made redundant and decided to use some of her payment to fix a problem that had concerned her for many years.

Gemma had chipped her front teeth when she was young and this was made worse when she developed a considerable gap between her front teeth.

She accepted the advice to get porcelain veneers provided by her regular dentist but it wasn’t her idea of cosmetic dentistry.

The result was that her two front teeth looked much bigger than adjacent teeth and there was a persistent and considerable space.

After a consultation with Dr Murphy, Gemma refused to accept a large space and declined orthodontic treatment to close it.

It was decided that a Diagnostic Wax-up’ might show Gemma the results if we provided ‘minimal prep’ veneers on four additional teeth. A course of tooth whitening brightened the lower teeth and upper premolars.

From the photographs, we can see that very little adjustments have been made to the lateral incisors and canines. The central incisor were prepared more aggressively by the original dentist, as discovered when the old porcelain veneers were removed.

Same Day Veneers Procedure

The ceramist attended to match shades in the 8am appointment. Gemma’s new veneers were fitted at 5pm on the same day.

In advancing the lateral incisors and canines towards the front teeth, it was possible to close the space between the front teeth without making them too much wider.

This made the additional four teeth comparatively larger, aided by reducing the length of the ‘centrals’ slightly.

Gemma was delighted with the final result and now returns to Appletree for her regular dental care.
Treatment cost – £2433 including X-rays.
