Lesley had a gap in her front teeth and came to Appletree Dental Care asking for porcelain veneers to eliminate the pronounced space at the front,. This is known as a diastema.

The consultation was not what she expected however as Dr Murphy presented her with all of the options, more than she expected.

When she discovered the space could actually be eliminated with clear ceramic braces and tooth coloured wires, within a six month period, Lesley decided she didn’t after all want the irreversible tooth adjustments that would have been required to correct the space with porcelain veneers.
What really swayed her decision was the fact that no fewer than six teeth would have been involved. She had thought the work to close the gap in her front teeth would have just involved the two front ones but really, it wouldn’t have been ideal to have two front teeth which were much wider.
Once the treatment was agreed, Lesley’s clear braces were similar to those she would have got with Six Month Smiles but it actually only took four months to eliminate the space!

A course of tooth whitening was provided at the end but due to sensitivity, Lesley was advised to go sparingly with the whitening after a few days. The enamel still ended up a little bit brighter.

The chipped edges on front teeth were polished slightly and Lesley was pleased with the treatment outcomes and was delighted not to have a gap in her front teeth any more.
Dr Murphy was happy that no enamel had been removed as part of the process.
“It’s nice to get the result without adjusting teeth – more natural in Lesley’s case.”
Treatment costs were lower than six porcelain veneers (6x£350=£2100) and tooth whitening (£310). In the end her cosmetic braces including tooth whitening and retainers (upper jaw) only cost £2000.
