Adrian wanted to replace an upper molar. His dentist had removed it due to infection and he did not like having an annoying gap – which you can see here – where the molar had previously been.

Adrian didn’t want to wear a removable denture but neither did he want to have adjacent teeth adjusted for a bridge. This incurs considerable risk to the nerves inside teeth, with the potential requirement for root canal therapy later in life.

Having suffered a recent root canal failure, Adrian was sure that he wanted a dental implant.
He had read online that Appletree ran a dentist referral service and asked his dentist to refer him to Dr Murphy.
“The implant placement went well,” said Dr Murphy. “As usual, we’ll wait for ten weeks before starting to get ready to place a gold abutment but Adrian should get a lifetime’s use out of it, so a bit of patience is worthwhile.”

Once the dental implant area had settled, Dr Murphy fitted the abutment and then placed a dental crown on top. As usual our cosmetic technician was involved in ensuring the shade of the new porcelain matched Adrain’s existing teeth. The total cost of treatment in this case came to £1972, including consultation, moulds, photos, X-rays, all the implant work and hardware as well as services of the lab.
