It can be tricky finding the right shade for a porcelain crown. Callum ‘s dentist sent him to Appletree because he could not get used to his removable denture and decided he wanted a dental implant.
He filled out our new patient’s concerns form – as all cosmetic dentistry patients do – but oddly did not say he was concerned about the colour or staining of his teeth. When you see the prohotgraph below you will understand why this seemed unusual.
In fact, as Callum saw it, his only problem was filling the space at the front of his mouth with a dental implant and a porcelain crown on top. Dr Murphy duly obliged as you can see in the photos. First we have the implant in place, then the abutment to take the implant crown.

It was a significant challenge finding the right shade and translucency for the new porcelain crown, given that he wanted it to look like his other teeth.
However our ceramicists managed to mirror not only the colours but also the fracture lines in the adjacent teeth.

Although this may not be perceived as the most cosmetic result, it was the right one as far as Callum was concerned.
The final cost for his dental implant and implant crown and everything else included, was £2100.
